Staying at Samboja Lodge you are at the centre of a 2,000 hectare reserve of unique, regenerating rainforest. Exotic birds will come to your balcony and tree frogs will‘sing’ to you in the evening. Samboja Lodge offers modern facilities with an open restaurant serving traditional Indonesian meals. You will have a unique and adventurous learning experience, while staying in comfort.
The Lodge has two tower suites, two queen suites and 22 standard rooms. The choice is yours! All rooms have air conditioning, and mosquito netting. Staying in the tower suite is an unforgettable experience. High above the canopy you can enjoy spectacular views, even from your bathtub! The diversity of plant and animal life is stunning.
In the regenerating forest, treetops are festooned with vines and lianas, and branches are covered with ferns and orchids. There is a good chance that you will see the mouse-deer, wild pig, pangoline, porcupine and monitor lizard. Over 100 species of birds can be observed, including the melodious sooty-headed bulbul, the bright Temminck’s sunbird and the majestic black eagle. Also keep your eye out for the elusive water rail and the ravishing red minivet! When visiting small villages in the Samboja area, please respect the local Indonesian culture.

It is essential (in public and also around the working areas of Samboja Lestari) to be conservatively dressed, particularly women. Women should dress as modestly as possible and wear a bra. Shoulders and stomac should be covered. Drink alcohol moderately and only smoke in specially designated areas.
Before entering a private home in Indonesia (or your Samboja Lodge room), it is customary to remove your shoes. Please show respect for the locals and their culture. Without their support, Samboja Lestari could not exist!
